Larger yards built 12 cargo liners aggregating 159,685 dw tons and one oil tanker of 36,041 tons dw; four ships were completed for Coast and Geodetic Survey; craft not classed as oceangoing, and produced by smaller yards, included barges, offshore oil well drilling platforms, tugboats, offshore cargo supply boats, etc; combat and auxiliary vessels completed for U S Navy included nuclear powered submarines, destroyers, frigates, destroyer escorts, minesweepers, gunboats, etc.
