Approximation consists in fact that instead of taking into consideration ship's actual lines they are assumed to be of convenient mathematical form; thus it was possible to express all constants required for evaluation of bending moment under static equilibrium as functions of ship's main dimensions and of various coefficients, which depend upon waterplane coefficient; numerical values for these coefficients are given in form of tables, which can be used in practice for rapid orientational calculations.
