Theories for description of sea and calculation of wave induced motions and loads on ships are discussed; results of calculations are compared to results from other calculations, model tests, and full-scale measurements; aspects of structural analysis and design of ships investigated include torsional response of all-hatch ships, buckling of transverse girders, discontinuity problems in girders, rigidity and internal response of wash bulkheads, web frame design for oil tankers, bilge tank torsional rigidity and its effect on response of double-bottom, and problems of longitudinal hull girder section modulus and slamming strength.
