Study of Paul Lindenau shipyard, Kiel Friedricksort, suggests alternative to concept of amalgamation into large groups as approach to profitable shipbuilding; evidence indicates reorganization within individual yards can effect many of improvements which mergers are expected to provide while retaining independence; with cooperation between few yards in building ships of same type, work could be interchanged, etc; program for rationalization of production at Lindenau yard is outlined, new facilities, etc, are listed.
