Component and system design concepts and development tests for Vernier Propulsion System (VPS) of soft-lunar-landing Surveyor spacecraft; feed components of helium-pressurized, liquid-propulsion system supply propellants under controlled conditions to three throttlable rocket engines for midcourse correction, attitude control during main retro-engine firing, retro-engine separation, and vehicle deceleration to within few feet of moon's surface; system testing, investigations of problem areas and solution found.
