To avoid damage to booster and spacecraft during launching, their total deflections must be known, particularly in operations in periods of high winds; program to evaluate ground wind effects is described; it encompasses full-scale vibration tests in which dynamic characteristics of air vehicle and erector are measured, model wind tunnel tests from which static and dynamic data are obtained for both air vehicle and erector, as well as measurement of their full-scale wind-induced responses; correlation between full-scale vehicle data and tunnel tests is discussed.
