Manned Orbital Research Laboratory (MORL) concept involves six-man crew, with growth capability to house nine men; MORL will have to function in low-altitude, low-inclination, polar orbits and orbits at Earth-synchronous altitude; principal design features summarizing 3 yr of design efforts are presented; description of service pack containing solid-propellant retrorockets and providing environmental control and life-support system, power coolant, and stabilization and control system for command module; for synchronous orbit, service pack is replaced by standard Apollo service module to provide thrust for de-orbit; details of other components.
