Average daily traffic is related to accident rates; higher total accident rates occur in low and high hourly volume ranges with lower rates occurring at intermediate hourly volume ranges; for entire range of hourly volumes, trucks are involved in lesser percent of accidents than their percent of traffic stream while passenger cars are involved in slighly higher percent of accidents than their percent of traffic stream.
