Method for detecting adulteration of traffic paint vehicles in amounts 2 to 5% by weight of vehicle solids is reported; method is applicable to monitoring of purchased lots of traffic paint after reference sample has been road tested and accepted for use; in detection method used, paint pigment is removed by centrifuging; separate determination of nonvolatile solids is made by heating at 105 C; solvents from separate test sample are removed from weighed sample of vehicle by means of rotating flask vacuum evaporator; modifications of method developed have applicability to protective coatings and to traffic paints, where composition is specified.
