Advanced aerospace meteorological systems developed under aegis of National Space Program have provided elements of satellite-based meteorological support system for benefit of future advanced transportation systems; meteorological termed ATMOS (Air Transportation Meteorological Operational Support) could provide full-time "instant" weather information directly to appropriate airline flight-control centers, ATC centers, etc; elements of ATMOS-type system are now available; extensive planning and coordination will be required to insure maximum benefit to transportation interests.
