First of two ships for British Railways, each with capacity for 148 containers of ISO 30 ft-type, is of 3293 tons dw and was built by John Readhead and Sons Ltd; length oa 388 ft 6 in., breadth molded 53 ft, depth to upper deck 28 ft, load draft 14 ft 6 in., hatch covers are prototype, automated design, main covers comprising six identically-sized panels 31 ft long by 43 ft wide; twin fixed screws are each driven by Mirrlees engine, each developing 1890 bhp at 450 rpm; general arrangement plans are included.
