Engines built for Netherlands Railways by Berlin Locomotive and Machine Works (formerly L. Schwartzkopff); cylinders are of increased diameter of 16 1/2 in. as compared with 15 3/4 in. of preceding 115 of this class; inside Walschaets gear is fitted, outside valves being driven from tail rods of inside piston valves, through medium of rocking levers; piston rods are of special Vibrac steel of high tensile strength.
