Prototype equipment was ordered by Netherlands Railways to carry out investigations into suitability of d-c chopper control for their 1500 v d-c overhead system; equipment was installed in body of motor coach and gives continuous control of four 136 kw motors installed on coach; equipment consists of control cabinet, thyristor case, switchgroup, line chokes, supply capacitor, key operated earthing switch, meter panel, monitor socket panel, key operated sliding door, and protective enclosure; investigation established that current ripple in overhead and return had no detrimental effect on their existing signaling system.
