Report of results of experimental research into elasticity of contact suspension of simple catenaries for different pressures of pantographs on contact wire (up to 250 Newtons); formulas given for determining elasticity in central part of span take into account unloading of droppers and also sag curve of contact wire; rational method is suggested for selecting optimum distances between catenary droppers in middle of span, which takes into account maximum pressures of pantograph measured on contact wire during operation.
