For greater speed, efficiency and safety, all mining activity is now monitored electronically by radio-television network at Arizona open pit operation; radio networks provide direct communication between base stations and mobile units located in shovels, haulage trucks, service vehicles, locomotives, etc; television cameras watch blind spots in pits for central dispatcher who coordinates activities.
