Analysis of efficiency and safety of motor truck transportation in open pit mines located on mountain slopes resulting in recommendation to build roads of varying gradient; gradients at higher levels may exceed those at lower levels by 20-35%; higher gradients are permissible when operations are of short duration; trucks with motors having specific power of 8-9 hp/ton should be used in early stages of open pit operations; during later stages of mining this power ratio should be increased to 6-6.5 hp/ton.
