Passive, 3-axes stabilization system described relies solely on gravity gradient to provide damping and restoring torques for vertically oriented satellite; damping is effected by energy dissipation of any relative motion that exists between main satellite body and suitably connected auxiliary body; it is shown that single auxiliary body having single degree of freedom can be positioned to introduce inertial coupling that permits attitude motions about all 3 axes to be damped; analysis presented leads to solution of optimum system parameters for example configuration.
