System design of satellite, capable of performing scientific missions of more comprehensive nature than chemical rocket-propelled satellite; vehicle makes use of deployable flat-panel, solar-cell array operating in near-polar orbit to provide reliable continuous electrical power for periods in excess of 150 days; operation of electric thrusters will cause test vehicle to spiral slowly upward, thus presenting platform from which to conduct such scientific experiments as spatial survey of intensities of energetic particles trapped in earth's magnetic field and World Magnetic Survey.
