Trajectory and guidance problems involved in returning spacecraft from lunar surface to Earth; generalized mission is considered to display guidance requirements, tradeoffs, and problem areas; midcourse guidance is assumed to be under Earth-based control; however, method of analysis and many of results apply equally well when midcourse guidance is under spacecraft control.
