Two approaches to conceptual design of mechanisms, which satisfy all basic docking/coupling tasks, are recommended; one is selective configuration approach in which docking facility configuration may be changed, on command, to either male or female component of docking pair; in multiple-counterpart approach, identical installations of male and female components are made at each docking face.
