Investigation was concerned with vehicular speeds on 2-lane rural highways to determine traffic-stream characteristics through formulation and evaluation of mathematical models describing time-rate of traffic flow; description of traffic-flow concept in language of mathematics was accomplished through development of multiple linear regression equations; 2 mathematical models were devised to relate mean spot speed as function of generated factors in one equation and of travel-restriction variables in other expression.
