Supersonic transport will create several serious operational problems which will affect economic sensitivity of airplane; combined with fact that minimum flight leg distances for reasonable operating costs are much longer than for subsonic transports, serious reduction in fleet flexibility is expected to occur; other factors such as high volume of services, fuel and payload handling at station stops which increase ground time and decrease utilization, will pose difficult problems in maintaining economic efficiency achievable; high level of planning and economic monitoring of operation by airlines in 1970's is urged.
