Future propulsion systems will require more complex control systems; more control functions will be necessary to maintain adequate flow stability margin in propulsion system during all phases of flight and achieve optimum fuel economy for any desired thrust setting; representative control requirements of current and advanced propulsion system are presented to illustrate need for increasing sensing and computational capabilities of propulsion controls.
