Design and development of PT6 opposed shaft free turbine engine, objectives of which were to achieve multifuel and oil capability; potential applications for engine included military aircraft, civilian aircraft, surface vehicles and static power plants; survey of available lubricants with respect to their properties, in particular load-carrying capacity, evaporation, and foaming characteristics; fuel system and combustor design; choice of lubricating oils is unavoidably restricted to family of ester-based synthetics but relatively large variety of fuels can be employed.
