New developments in nondestructive testing for turbojet engines and aircraft are illustrated and current problem areas are outlined; development work now underway in this field is described; future requirements, related to such aircraft as 747 and supersonic transport and their engines are anticipated; recent history and current status of nondestructive testing in field of aircraft maintenance and overhaul clearly demonstrate advantage of planned inspection; to requirements of reliability and maintainability should be added nondestructive testability as basic design consideration.
