Identification of parameters of unknown plant or "black box", where only input and output can be observed or measured is considered; problem arises in connection with design of adaptive control systems, such as adaptive autopilots; system presented is proven to be globally, asymptotically stable (provided input is of certain class); that is, system will correctly identify parameters regardless of initial estimate and regardless of adjustment loop gain; computer results are presented which substantiate analysis.
