Based on assumption that impact of Civil Air Transportation on Anchorage International Airport during period 1970 to 1985 will necessitate improved and enlarged facilities, investigations conducted to determine whether existing east-west runway can be adequately and economically rehabilitated to handle anticipated aircraft or would construction of new runway be preferable, and to provide basis for selection of runway alignment at airport; report describes studies conducted during 1966 and 1967 and includes pertinent summaries and conclusions of various phases of engineering work which led to runway selection.
