Features of jet airplane 747 are discussed from point of view of hangar design; 747's lower hold will accept cargo containers as large as 520 cu ft, compared with 85 cu ft for conventional 707 and 727; 747 will have higher passenger deck, and it will slope down to nose; 747 will be so high that hangar designers may wish to build hangars only as high as fuselage (itself 30 ft high), except at tail; problems associated with designing and financing airports.
