Development of locomotive built for Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway by Murdoch and Aitken, is traced; sketch of locomotive is reproduced; first of these engines started on Railway on May 10 1931; engines were able to drag 60 tons gross weight at rate of 4 or 5 mph.
