Object and purpose of research. This paper discusses the state of the art in Russian marine robotics to estimate the prospects of introducing marine robotic systems to the Russian Navy. Materials and methods. The paper analyses current status of Russian developments in marine robotic systems. Main results. The study explores what challenges and implications might arise if Russian marine robotic developments are not completed and introduced to practice in timely manner. Conclusion. The authors point out that Russia is strongly determined to develop and implement its own marine robotics.
