Object and purpose of research. This paper studies Russian and foreign literature on ice propulsion performance of ships. The purpose of this work is to review current trends in ship ice propulsion performance developments. Materials and methods. Analysis of literature published between 2000 and 2017. Main results. This study identifies main development trends in ice propulsion performance of ships of the new millennium. It reviews 153 publications dedicated to propulsion performance of ships in ice. Conclusion. This review confirms that ice propulsion performance of ships remains an important field of studies, first of all, due to introduction of new types of ships intended for frequent navigation in ice, and/or to the extension of the scope of operational ice conditions for ships. All this fosters both development of conventional fields of ice propulsion performance studies for ships, and formation of the new ones.
