Objective FAO (fully automatic operation) lines of CBTC (communication-based train control) system still lacks unified design standards and operational protocols at the technical level. To ensure protection of the rear track area when a train reverses at a station without compromising operational efficiency, it is necessary to develop a general management method for FAO train bidirectional movement authorization in CBTC system. Method Based on typical scenarios requiring bidirectional safety protection, the critical factors and track areas that need trackside controller and interlocking system protection are analyzed when a train needs to perform bidirectional operations. The multi-party collaborative mechanism involved in movement authorization is investigated, and a general management method for CBTC train bidirectional movement authorization is proposed. [Result & Conclusion] The proposed management method does not alter the overall architecture of the traditional CBTC system. It continues to use the trackside controller and interlocking subsystem as the regional control center. Through the collaboration of trackside controller, interlocking subsystem, and onboard controller, the method effectively enables train bidirectional movement authorization management.
