Collaboration between automotive manufacturers and tier suppliers across company boundaries involves a high degree of complexity. Collaboration is becoming increasingly important in this context, as the focus is on decentralized working through distributed project teams. This leads to new challenges regarding project management in the automotive supply chain. This paper examines the current state of cross-organizational project management in the automotive industry in the literature as well as in practice.
