In order to investigate the feasibility of transporting temperature-controlled goods by rail, the project examined the energy supply of reefer containers in freight trains. For this purpose, a test train was equipped with reefer containers and measurement equipment and a measurement campaign was carried out taking into account various operating and environmental conditions at the Open Digital Test Field of the DZSF. The results of the investigations show that transportation of temperature-sensitive goods by rail using conventional means is technically and operationally possible.
