This dissertation introduces a new approach for benefit investigation and improvement of safety relevant driver assistance systems. The new methodology combines user-based test with the accident analysis of real road accident data. Detailed real road accident are used for the simulation of the collision evolution. By means of user-based data the driver interaction can be evaluated and a driver model can be extracted. The combination of accident data and user-based tests leads to a high validity.
