Abstract Basically, technology can provide the ability to work from wherever; thus, circumventing the need for transportation to and accessibility in a “fixed workspace” (Pati & Bailey, 1995, p. 56). Moreover, the use of technology that allows for adaptive work environments, including virtual offices and modified equipment, will enable skilled “individuals with disabilities to be a greater asset than non-disabled individuals lacking requisite skills” (Pati & Bailey, 1995, p.56). The purpose of this article is to review existing studies on people with disabilities in the workplace by the renowned team of Frank Gilbreth and Dr Lillian Gilbreth; then apply their research to the current virtual office environment. The transnational model of multinational organizations, selected for this article, is a global enterprise; hence, the information will include an international perspective.
