In this Master‘s thesis an investigation of the design and working principle of regenerative shock absorbers are carried out. The influence of the road profile, suspension members and vehicle movement parameters on energy dissipated in the suspension is described. Quarter car suspension model of harmoniously excited vehicle is proposed which is used to derive mathematical equation of energy dissipated in the suspension. The prototype of recuperative electromechanical gear is constructed using the „SolidWorks“ model of the prototype which is made of rack and pinion gears which convert linear reciprocating motion into rotational motion, also shaft and three bevel gears with integrated roller clutches which transmit rotational motion to the direct current, permanent magnet electric motor which works in generator mode. The experiment of the prototype is carried out using shock absorber dynamometer „BTP 2000“ and the generated voltage Um is measured using oscillosope when prototype is excited by diferent frequencies f and amplitudes A harmonic oscillations, then results are used to calculate the effective electric power Pe. Experiments show that when prototype oscillates with an average speed of 0,05–0,125 m/s, the generated voltage Um is 7–17,5 V and the calculated effective electric power Pe is 1,35–8,33 W.
