In order to ensure the driving safety of vehicles on dedicated ramps of expressway with separated line between passenger and freight, and to enrich the research results on the length of the acceleration lane of dedicated ramp for truck, this paper analyzes the effects of various factors such as traffic volume, headway distance, vehicle’s running speed of adjacent lanes in the merging-area, acceleration performance, and driver’s quality on the length of acceleration lane. At the same time, the UMRR Chain Kepler Radar Speedometer is used to observe the actual data in the interchange. The mathematical statistics method is used to study the driving characteristics of the truck flow in the merging area, and finally, the acceleration lane is divided into a stepped-up segment, waiting segment, and transition section. From the perspective of kinematics theory and traffic flow theory, this paper establishes a calculation model for the length of truck’s acceleration lane of expressway of the separated line between passenger and freight transportation. Finally, the paper puts forward the characteristic parameters of the truck in the calculation model for the acceleration lane’s length by observing the actual running characteristics of the truck in the merging-area.
