A modified floor field model is proposed to simulate the pedestrian evacuation behavior in a room with multiple exits by considering a remainder direction visual field. A remainder direction visual field is used to describe the pedestrian’s prediction on the propagation of pedestrian flow with a direction visual field. The prediction not only relies upon the number of pedestrians in front of the pedestrian in the visual area, but also on the remainder directions. The proposed model outperforms most similar models in such a scenario so pedestrians are initially distributed in a room’s specified zone. Simulation results show that the consideration of a remainder direction visual field can better reproduce the evacuation process and improve evacuation efficiency.
