Protecting the safety of the road is the premise of traffic safety. Inclement weather and disaster-prone environments pose a great threat to traffic safety, and reducing traffic accidents is instrumental in maintaining people's lives and property. Taking several typical disasters along south section of Sichuan-Tibet highway for examples, this paper briefly introduces the special geology, landform, topography, climate and hydrological conditions, focusing on the impact of the natural environment on road safety. On this basis, a set of countermeasures were proposed to minimize the adverse effects of inclement weather and disaster-prone environment on road safety.
