Because of landforms or bypassing the special building and other reasons, alignment designs of some bridge approaches is close to the bottom limit of the design standard, especially in locations with higher difference in elevation. It is easy to appear bad alignment design or diverse speed and so on. They may induce hidden traffic danger. For such problems, based on reasons of traffic safety problems, analyzing the influence of a variety of factors, according to different characteristics, formation mechanism and other aspects, the paper builds the traffic safety evaluation system of bridge approach, which includes 3 first-grade indexes and 17 second-grade indexes. Considering the qualification of some indexes exact calculated, Fuzzy AHP is applied and the fuzzy comparison matrix is established, accordingly obtaining the weight of each index in different grades. For different evaluation results of indexes influences, traffic safety levels of the bridge approach are divided into 5 levels. Finally, according to current traffic operation investigations, taking Beidong Yangtze Bridge as an example, evaluation system and algorithm is analyzed and validated, specific rectification Measures can be given for different evaluation results.
