This paper conducted research on multi-objective optimization models of intersection signal controls considering traffic delay, stops of vehicles, and vehicle emissions. Each optimal objective was processed by dimensionless normalization method, and a solving method based on weighted optimization and genetic algorithm was designed for the model. Based on this method, a case study was conducted for the application analysis of the proposed model. The biggest difference from other studies is that this model separates buses from the heavy duty vehicles when calculating emissions of different vehicle types. In addition, the optimization results of the proposed model was compared with other conventional models, which shows that the multi-objective optimization model proposed in this paper had the preponderance over the other models. In other words, the proposed model can effectively reduce intersection vehicle emissions, traffic delays, and improve the efficiency of intersection traffic.
