Walking trips are an important travel mode in people’s daily life, and the evaluation of the friendliness of urban pedestrian network has been focused more with the development of green travel. In this paper, linear streets are utilized as the basic research unit, POI facilities and weight classification are localized to evaluate walking accessibility, an evaluation of walking environment is carried out through the four proposed indicators, the result of walking accessibility and environment are integrated to obtain the final score, and the score is divided into four levels, each of which is described. Finally, an experiment is conducted to evaluate the pedestrian network in the downtown of Nanjing City, and results demonstrate that streets there generally score low on the walking environment. Even in the central area of the downtown, there are still more streets with lower pedestrian environment scores.
