In order to formulate improvement proposals of integrated transportation planning for developed regions in China, it is necessary to understand the different impacts of factors affecting travel mode choice between urban and rural residents. In this article, the differences of factors’ effect on travel mode was analyzed based on the revealed choice data collected from the household travel survey of Haining County, Zhejiang Province, in China. Multinomial logit model is used to explore the impacts of socio-demographic characteristics on travel mode choice of urban and rural areas. Referenced with bus travel, the result shows that the difference in bicycle travel between urban and rural areas is mainly the result of gender and income, but that it is age for motorcycle, income for car, and travel purpose for walking.
