The crosswind on highway has great influence on the safety of vehicle driving and usually leads to major malignant traffic accidents, especially for large or medium-sized passenger cars such as van, because of its suddenness and concealment. At present, there are no complete warning and control intelligent systems on the crosswind-prone sections in China. Drivers can only be warned by setting crosswind signs that can’t meet the safety of vehicle in crosswind weather. This research is based on the speed limit model of vehicle safety on crosswind highway. In this system, we set up sensors to acquire data by real-time measuring and transmit them to ARM to get further analysis by ZigBee. Then, we display the results of the analysis on a deployment module consists of variable message signs. By applying this system, we can achieve greater safety when driving on highways in crosswind condition.
