It is the key to design reasonably how to calculate pressure of surrounding rock on multi-arch tunnel in load structure method. At present, calculation of pressure of surrounding rock on multi-arch tunnel in current "Code for Design of Road Tunnel" recurs to "Code of Design on Tunnel of Railway". Calculation formula of pressure of surrounding rock in "Code of Design on Tunnel of Railway" is based on survey of deep-lying single-track railway tunnel and statistic data of tunnel landslide. Single-track railway tunnel span is deemed as basic span. However, multi-arch tunnel has its own characteristics, such as clearance, span and ratio of height-span. It is a significant task to further study on calculation pressure of surrounding rock on multi-arch tunnel according to current "Code for Design of Road Tunnel". In the first place, boundary between deep and shallow depth of multi-arch tunnel is discussed in this paper. In succession, compare with ordinary theories of pressure of surrounding rock. Eventually improved calculation pressure formula of surrounding rock on multi-arch tunnel is presented. It acts as reference for design and calculation for multi-arch and large span tunnel.
