Maintenance of asphalt pavements on expressways is crucial for the road’s performance and longevity. This study is conducted on a province’s expressway with a combination pavement structure (LSPM base layer), aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of different maintenance strategies. Furthermore, it analyzes the timing and results of maintenance based on road condition data and maintenance measures. Using three indicators, PCI, RQI, and RDI, five maintenance measures, including fog seal, anti-skid surface treatment, ultra-thin overlay, hot in-place recycling, and milling and overlay, are assessed. The results demonstrate that in the context of a combination pavement structure, hot in-place recycling and milling and overlay perform well. Through classification analysis, it is observed that most maintenance strategies are more effective when pavement indicators are lower. The judicious selection and timing of maintenance strategies are critical for preserving pavement performance and ensuring sustainability.
