Cracking is one of the main disease types of asphalt pavement. Currently, adding polyester fibers is one of the measures most commonly used to reduce cracking. Firstly, performance-enhancing mechanism on anti-cracking ability of asphalt mixture adding with polyester fibers was studied. Then, a typical polyester fiber was selected, anti-cracking ability of asphalt binder and asphalt mixture for different fiber lengths and different fiber dosages were tested. BBR test was selected to evaluate anti-cracking ability of asphalt binder while four-point bending beam test was selected to evaluate anti-cracking ability of asphalt mixture. Study showed that anti-cracking ability of asphalt was excellent when the length of polyester fiber is 6 mm, and the optimum dosage is between 0.2 ∼ 0.5% of the mixture.
