Existing traffic hubs have shown to exert significant effects upon the alleviation of traffic congestion in Beijing in recent years. However, due to their defects in capacity, efficiency, comfort and other aspects, the attractiveness of public transport to the public is at a competitive disadvantage to private cars. It is still a problem when evaluating and increasing the transfer performance of traffic hubs efficiently. This paper presents a typical evaluation indicator system. The specific indicators include: transport capacity matching degree, bypassing degree, average walking distance, conflicts safety, transfer comfort, etc. Based on the calculating method of each selected indicator, field investigations on Xidan station, Jianguomen station, and Guomao station of Beijing subway line 1 were conducted to obtain the required basic data. The Principal Component Analysis was used later to evaluate these hubs. According to the analysis result, advantages and disadvantages of each station were discussed together with recommendations.
