Runway safety has been an important concern for theInternational Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for many years. The statistics of the influences and trends of each occurrence of runway safety category are analyzed using past runway safety occurrences inChina during 2013. These occurrences include runway incursions, runway excursions, and runway confusions. Using the results of the analysis, the authors discussimprovement measures that could be taken to improve runway safety and categorizes them into similar policies such as organization, policy, regulation, technology support, etc. The authors hope that by including international studies, the recommendations can be applied to similar studies in various locations around the world.
